Corporate Governance Assessment Tool
The Energy Chamber (ECTT) Trinidad & Tobago welcomes you to our Corporate Governance Self-Assessment Tool.
In 2011 the Energy Chamber embarked on an Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) initiative aimed at “improving the practice of corporate governance in private and public companies in Trinidad and Tobago to facilitate the creation of an ethical, non-corrupt business environment that will reduce excessive levels of risk and promote a competitive and stable economy.”
For companies to improve their corporate governance practices they must first assess their current corporate governance practices in relation to the legal requirements of Trinidad & Tobago and international best practice (OECD Corporate Governance Principles, OECD Guidelines for State Owned Companies, and Corporate Governance Guidelines for Unlisted Companies developed by the European Confederation of Directors Associations (ECODA)).
The assessment helps you to evaluate your performance on six key areas of corporate governance based on applicable legislation and most widely accepted international principles;
1. Board Roles
2. Board Composition
3. Board Tasks
4. Board Processes
5. Disclosure and Transparency
6. Relations with Shareholders
The assessment tool is customized for three ownership structures i.e. Closely Held Companies, Listed Companies and State Owned Enterprise. Your data and feedback will allow for improvements to be made to the final version of the evaluation tool, as well as providing focus for the development of the required resource material and support training that is also part of the wider Energy Chamber initiative.
You will be guided to assess your organization on 24 indicators of corporate governance practice. The assessment can be completed in 30-45 minutes. Further instructions for completing the assessment will follow.
All information provided is anonymous and will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.
We thank your for your participation!
